Two incredibly amazing songs and videos from Sia:

Chandelier:

Elastic Heart:

Both of these songs are so powerful, both visually and emotionally. Sia has done a wonderful job in bringing her inner turmoils out for us to see and experience for ourselves and I, for one, can relate to the messages in both of these songs.

Maddie Ziegler is a spectacular dancer and she portrays the meanings of these songs so beautifully in her dance. Then, to have Shia LaBeouf performing with her gave such a wonderfully diverse dynamic that I could not look away. I commend these three for coming together and giving us something that is so controversial. So much so, that there were cries of pedophilia for 'Elastic Heart', but the video has absolutely nothing sexual about it. It is a battle of the mind, the body and the soul. A battle that was executed brilliantly by very talented individuals.

Hmm, my favorite genre? I do not believe I actually have a favorite, per se, Louis. I do like a mix of things, but lately I have been enjoying more instrumental songs.

Oh, though, if I had to pick one that I absolutely adore. I would to say jazz and blues. I love the songs of the 1920s and 1930s. There are other eras of jazz and blues that I like, but I do happen to like those the most.

I, apparently, also like swing music. The Brian Setzer Orchestra is currently playing here at my work place, as I am getting ready to leave.

Found this compilation of music purely by accident this morning.

After the 'Pirates' theme there are a number of beautifully composed songs. The clips that go with them are amazing as well. I do believe that they are actually taken from the movies and video games they belong to, for I had noted a bit from Skyrim in there.

Enjoy!

I had Oomph! on my mind... This is definitely a 'bite'.

Here is:

Die Schlinge - Oomph!

And here is the English version:

Song of Death - Oomph!

You may or may not notice, that another band I happen to love is also playing with Oomph! in this song. Oomph! and Apocalyptica joined forces to create a masterpiece of a video. The imagery and artistry in this video is amazing. The entire concept drew me to this band without my understanding most of the lyrics.

And here are the lyrics:

DIE SCHLINGE

Oh ́ ich kann nicht mehr
Ich weiß, ich werde brenn
en
Dein Urteil hat sich längst
Um meinen Hals gelegt
Oh` ich kann nicht mehr
Ich weiß, du wirst mich hängen
Und die Schlinge ist so eng
Dass ich kaum noch atmen kann
Spiel mir das Lied vom Tod
Spiel mir das Lied vom Tod
Oh ́ ich kann nicht mehr
Mein Schi
cksal ist besiegelt
Dein Fluch schwebt genauso
Wie der Galgen über mir
Oh ́ ich kann nicht mehr
Der Himmel ist verriegelt
Doch jetzt weiß ich nicht mal mehr
Ob die Hölle mich noch will
Spiel mir das Lied vom Tod
Spiel mir das Lied vom Tod
Gib mir ein let
ztes mal
Spiel mir das Lied vom Tod
Spiel mir das Lied...

~*~Translation~*~

Oh my time is up
I know you're gonna burn me
Your judgment's coiled just like a snake
Around my neck
Oh my time is up
I know you're gonna hang me
And the noose is pulled so tight
That it's hard for me to breathe

Sing me the song of death
Sing me the song of death
Sing me the song

Oh my time is up
My destiny is certain
Your curse floats above me
Like the melody I hear
Oh my time is up
And Heaven's gates are bolted
But now I'm not even sure
If they want me down in Hell

Sing me the song of death
Sing me the song of death
Sing me the song of death
Sing me the song of death
Sing me the song

Grant me one last request
Sing me this song of death

Sing me the song of death
Sing me the song of death
Sing me the song
Sing me the song
Sing me the song
Sing me the song
Of death

Big Girls Cry - Sia

Yet another powerful song put to video by Sia. While it is a very simple video, it has a lot of impact and even without the song to accompany it, it tells a strong story. The song itself just adds to the imagery that Maddie Ziegler gives us. As with the other two videos that have been made from Sia's album '1000 Forms of Fear'. The album itself is extremely powerful in how Sia has recounted incidents in her own life and put them to song. It is simply amazing and beautiful. As are all of her albums. I cannot quite put my finger on what it is that resonates and touches something within my own being. However, I can say that I can empathize and sympathize and understand nearly every song I have heard from this artist and look forward to more from her in the future.

I was feeling a bit nostalgic and wanted to share a clip of one of my favorite movies. I am sure nearly everyone has heard of 'Labyrinth', but if not, you should see it. It is a brilliant movie with some great visual design. One of my favorites artists, Brian Froud, did the goblin designs - I have owned a number of his books in various forms over the years. The costuming alone has always made me think of those lavish Masquerade balls that were held at various times of the year in various parts of the world during the fifteenth century and forward through time to the modern era. I have always dreamed of going to Italy for Il Carnevale Di Venezia, to France for Le Carnaval De Paris, or New Orleans for Mardi Gras and every time I see this specific part of the this movie, the desire grows. One day I shall do so.

For now, I just dare to dream.

David Bowie - As The World Falls Down

Clip from the movie that the above goes to. I suggest watching this to really get a feel for the movie and the song.
